NDIS plan management in Shellharbour & Kiama

Good Plan Management is a new NDIS plan management service for the southern Illawarra. We pay your providers, check your invoices and track your budget, with a dedicated plan manager who gets to know your plan. Supporting participants across the Shellharbour and Kiama council areas, from Albion Park and Warilla down to Gerringong – and Australia-wide.

What is NDIS plan management?

Plan management is one of three ways your National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) plan can be managed. A plan manager pays your providers on your behalf, checks each invoice against your plan, and keeps track of what you have spent and what is left. It is funded separately by the NDIS, so there is no cost to you.

Plan management sits in the middle. You keep the freedom to use both registered and unregistered providers, without taking on the admin yourself. Read a fuller explainer on what NDIS plan management is.

Two council areas, one local plan manager

Shellharbour and Kiama sit side by side at the southern end of the Illawarra. We cover both.

Around here, the Local Area Coordination (LAC) partner that helps participants connect with the NDIS is Uniting, delivering the Partners in the Community programme, with an office at Gerringong. The LAC helps you build and use your plan; a plan manager is a separate part of it, handling the invoices and budget once your plan is in place.

Shellharbour and Kiama are two different councils, but for a participant the line between them does not matter much. Families move between Albion Park, Warilla, Shellharbour and the Kiama towns for school, work and supports all the time. We work across the whole southern Illawarra, so you are not stuck with a plan manager who only knows one side of Lake Illawarra.

Being local also means we can sit down with you, your family or your Support Coordinator in person when that helps. Plenty of plan management happens by phone and email, and we are good at that too. But when a face-to-face conversation is the right one, we are nearby, not on the other side of the country.

Who we help in Shellharbour and Kiama

Participants and families

If you want the freedom to choose any provider without becoming a part-time bookkeeper, plan management is for you. We handle the invoices and the budget tracking, so you and your family can get on with the rest of life.

Support Coordinators

You recommend a plan manager every week. We aim to be the one that quietly disappears into the background – a dedicated plan manager who gets to know your participants, fast invoice processing, and a direct line to a real person when you need to escalate something.

Providers

Providers across the southern Illawarra want to be paid promptly and without chasing. We check invoices carefully and pay them on time, so the people you support are not caught in the middle of a payment delay.

Carers and nominees

If you manage the day-to-day for someone else, you want visibility without becoming the messenger. We give you clear budgets and statements you can actually read, with consent.

How it works

Getting started with a plan manager is simpler than people expect.

  1. Register your interest.

Tell us a little about your plan and where you are, from Albion Park to Gerringong. There is no cost to you and no obligation. You can also ask your Support Coordinator to introduce us.

  2. We confirm the fit.

A short conversation to understand your plan, your providers and what you need. If we are not the right plan manager for you, we will say so.

  3. We handle the setup.

We send the service agreement, get it signed, and handle the NDIA-side activation. The NDIA includes plan-managed funding on request, separately from the rest of your plan.

  4. We get to work.

You get a dedicated plan manager who knows your plan. We pay your providers, check every invoice, track your budget and keep you in the picture.

Common questions

Do you cover both Shellharbour and Kiama?

Yes. Shellharbour and Kiama are two neighbouring council areas, and we work right across both – from Albion Park, Oak Flats and Warilla through Shellharbour and Shell Cove down to Kiama, Jamberoo and Gerringong. You do not need to be in any one town for us to support you.

Does it cost me anything to have a plan manager?

No. Plan management is funded separately by the NDIS, on top of the funding for your supports. It does not come out of the budget for your other supports, and there is no out-of-pocket cost to you.

Can I use a provider in Kiama or Shellharbour who is not NDIS-registered?

Yes. Plan management lets you use both registered and unregistered providers. In the smaller coastal towns south of Wollongong, plenty of good supports come from independent providers who are not registered, and plan management keeps them available to you.

I already have a plan manager. Can I switch to you?

Yes. You can change plan managers without waiting for your next plan. The NDIA needs to approve the change but typically does. We handle the paperwork so the switch is not a job for you.

Will I get the same person each time, or a call centre?

You get a dedicated plan manager who gets to know your plan, your providers and your goals – not a queue and not a shared inbox. When you call, you are talking to someone who already knows your situation.

How do I add plan management to my NDIS plan?

Ask for it. Tell your planner or Local Area Coordinator (LAC) that you would like a plan manager, and the NDIA includes plan-managed funding on request. If your plan is already in place, you can ask for a plan change rather than waiting for your next review.
